Great thoughts don't wait for WiFi. Sometimes the best insights come when you're completely disconnected — on a plane, deep in nature, or traveling without data.
Now Nuro doesn't wait either.
How Offline Recording Works
When you're without internet, Nuro seamlessly switches to offline mode:
1. Record Normally
Tap the record button and speak your thoughts. The experience is identical to online recording — nothing changes on your end.
2. Local Storage
Your recording is saved securely on your device. You'll see a "Pending" status indicating it's waiting to sync.
3. Automatic Sync
When you reconnect to the internet, Nuro automatically:
- Uploads your recording
- Transcribes the audio
- Generates AI analysis
- Updates the entry with full insights
No manual action required. It just works.
4. Notification
Once processed, your entry appears fully analyzed, just like any other recording.
Perfect Use Cases for Offline Recording
On a Plane
Long flights are perfect thinking time. Instead of watching another movie, use the quiet hours to:
- Process thoughts from your trip
- Plan what's ahead
- Reflect on what you've learned
- Brainstorm without distraction
Record your thoughts in flight, and they'll be analyzed by the time you land.
While Hiking
Nature unlocks different thinking. The combination of:
- Physical movement
- Natural beauty
- Digital disconnection
- Uninterrupted time
Creates ideal conditions for insight. Don't let lack of signal stop you from capturing those thoughts.
During Your Commute
Underground? In a tunnel? Rural areas with spotty coverage? Your commute thinking time shouldn't be limited by network availability.
Traveling Internationally
Avoid expensive data roaming. Record freely wherever you are, and let everything sync when you hit hotel WiFi or return home.
In Focus Mode
Some users intentionally go offline to think. Airplane mode eliminates notification distractions while Nuro still captures your thoughts.
Technical Details
Storage Capacity
Each minute of recording uses approximately 1MB of storage. Most phones have plenty of space for many hours of recordings.
Example:
- 10-minute recording = ~10MB
- 50 recordings = ~500MB
- Most phones: 64GB+ available
Sync Status Indicators
Look for these visual cues:
| Status | Meaning | |--------|---------| | Pending | Saved locally, waiting for connection | | Syncing | Currently uploading to cloud | | Processing | Transcription and analysis in progress | | Complete | Fully processed and available |
Automatic Retry
If a sync fails (connection drops mid-upload), Nuro automatically retries. You can also manually retry from the entry or your profile.
Battery Consideration
Offline recordings use standard battery for audio recording. Sync happens when you have connection, so there's no constant network drain while offline.

- WiFi is faster for longer recordings
- Multiple pending recordings sync in sequence
- You can continue recording while others sync
