At Nuro, we believe your inner world deserves the same privacy as your home. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information — and importantly, what we will never do with it.
Your thoughts never train AI models. Unlike consumer AI chatbots, Nuro uses private API connections with contractual protections that prohibit your data from being used to train or improve AI models. Your voice recordings, transcripts, and insights belong to you — not to us, not to AI companies, not to anyone else.
The words of which the initial letter is capitalized have meanings defined under the following conditions. The following definitions shall have the same meaning regardless of whether they appear in singular or in plural.
For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:
Account means a unique account created for You to access our Service or parts of our Service.
Application refers to Nuro, the software program provided by the Company.
Company (referred to as either "the Company", "We", "Us" or "Our" in this Agreement) refers to Nuro.
Country refers to: Colorado, United States
Device means any device that can access the Service such as a computer, a cellphone or a digital tablet.
Personal Data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
Service refers to the Application or the Website or both.
Service Provider means any natural or legal person who processes the data on behalf of the Company. It refers to third-party companies or individuals employed by the Company to facilitate the Service, to provide the Service on behalf of the Company, to perform services related to the Service or to assist the Company in analyzing how the Service is used.
Voice Data refers to audio recordings you create within the Application, including the resulting transcriptions and AI-generated insights.
Usage Data refers to data collected automatically, either generated by the use of the Service or from the Service infrastructure itself (for example, the duration of a page visit).
Website refers to Nuro, accessible from https://nuro.so/
You means the individual accessing or using the Service, or the company, or other legal entity on behalf of which such individual is accessing or using the Service, as applicable.
When you create a voice recording in Nuro:
Audio is transcribed using OpenAI's Whisper API, a private API connection that contractually prohibits training on your data.
Transcripts are analyzed using OpenAI's API to generate insights, also under contractual protections against training.
Your data is stored securely in your personal account, encrypted at rest and in transit.
Never train AI models on your data. We use private API connections (not consumer chatbots) that contractually prohibit your data from being used to train or improve AI models.
Never sell your data. Your thoughts, recordings, and insights will never be sold to third parties.
Never share your content. Your voice recordings, transcripts, and AI-generated insights are never shared with anyone — not advertisers, not data brokers, not anyone.
Never read your entries. We do not access or review your personal recordings or insights unless you explicitly request support and grant us temporary access.
Never use your data for advertising. We will never use your personal content to target ads or build advertising profiles.
We want to be transparent about how your data flows through our AI systems:
OpenAI API (Whisper & GPT): Your audio and text are processed through OpenAI's API. Per OpenAI's API Data Usage Policy (effective March 2023), data submitted through the API is not used to train or improve their models. OpenAI retains API data for up to 30 days solely for abuse monitoring, then deletes it.
No Consumer Chatbot Data Policies: Unlike ChatGPT's consumer web interface (which may use conversations for training by default), API connections have explicit contractual protections against training.
Your recordings and insights: Stored securely as long as you maintain your account. You can delete individual entries or your entire account at any time.
AI provider retention: OpenAI retains API request data for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then permanently deletes it. This data is not used for training.
After account deletion: All your data is permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days of account deletion.
While using Our Service, We may ask You to provide Us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify You. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to:
Email address
First name and last name
Usage Data
When you use the recording feature, we collect:
Audio recordings you create
Transcriptions of those recordings
AI-generated insights, analysis, and action items
This data is stored in your personal account and is never used to train AI models or shared with third parties.
Usage Data is collected automatically when using the Service.
Usage Data may include information such as Your Device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), device type, operating system, the features of our Service that You use, the time and date of Your usage, and other diagnostic data.
We collect this data to improve the Service and troubleshoot issues. We do not link Usage Data to your Voice Data or personal content.
The Company may use Personal Data for the following purposes:
To provide and maintain our Service, including to process your voice recordings and generate insights.
To manage Your Account: to manage Your registration as a user of the Service and provide You access to your data.
To contact You: To contact You by email regarding updates, security notices, or support requests you initiate.
To improve our Service: We may use anonymized, aggregated usage statistics (never your personal content) to improve features and fix bugs.
We do NOT use your Voice Data to train AI models
We do NOT sell your data to third parties
We do NOT share your personal content with advertisers
We do NOT build advertising profiles based on your recordings
We do NOT access your recordings unless you request support
We share your personal information only in the following limited situations:
With AI Service Providers (for processing only): Your voice recordings are processed by OpenAI's API solely to provide transcription and analysis. This processing is governed by contractual terms that prohibit training on your data.
With Infrastructure Providers: We use Supabase for secure data storage. Your data is encrypted and these providers do not have access to your content.
For legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid legal requests by public authorities.
With Your explicit consent: We will never share your data for any other purpose without your explicit consent.
We take the security of your data seriously:
Encryption in transit: All data is transmitted using TLS 1.3 encryption.
Encryption at rest: Your data is encrypted using AES-256 encryption when stored.
Secure authentication: We support secure authentication methods including biometric locks (Face ID, Touch ID).
Access controls: Only you can access your recordings and insights. Our team cannot access your content unless you explicitly grant temporary access for support purposes.
You can access all your recordings, transcripts, and insights within the app at any time.
You have the right to delete your data:
Individual entries: Delete any recording or insight from within the app.
Entire account: Delete your account and all associated data from the Settings menu.
Request deletion: Contact us at quest@nuro.so to request complete deletion of all your data.
You can export your recordings and insights at any time. Your data belongs to you.
You can opt out of:
Push notifications (in app settings)
Marketing emails (unsubscribe link in emails)
Usage analytics (contact us)
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If You are a parent or guardian and You are aware that Your child has provided Us with Personal Data, please contact Us. If We become aware that We have collected Personal Data from anyone under the age of 13 without verification of parental consent, We take steps to remove that information from Our servers immediately.
Your information may be transferred to and processed on servers located in the United States. By using our Service, you consent to this transfer. We ensure that any international transfers comply with applicable data protection laws and that your data receives the same level of protection.
We may update Our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify You of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
For significant changes that affect how we handle your Voice Data, we will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice within the app prior to the change becoming effective.
