Start talking from anywhere on your iPhone.
The thought you want to keep rarely shows up while the app is open. Nuro 3.0.9 lets you start from the Home Screen, the Lock Screen or Control Center, and keeps listening when you put the phone away.
7-day free trial, then $49.99/year or $6.99/month. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal.
Pick whichever is closest when the thought arrives.
All three open Nuro already recording, so the first words are not lost to finding the right button.
Lock the phone. Nuro is still listening.
Recording carries on when the screen locks or you switch to another app. A Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island shows the time running, with Pause and Stop, so you can walk and talk with the phone in your pocket.
When you stop, the entry saves the way any recording does: Nuro transcribes it, pulls out possible to-dos and dates, and waits for you to confirm them.
What it does not do yet.
Siri and Action button shortcuts exist in the app but have not been checked on enough phones to promise them here. Live Activities need to be allowed for Nuro; iOS asks the first time.
What people ask about start from anywhere.
How do I record a voice note from the iPhone Lock Screen?
Add the Nuro Lock Screen widget (customise the Lock Screen, tap the widget area, choose Nuro). Tapping it opens Nuro already recording. You can also add Nuro to Control Center, which you can open from the Lock Screen.
Does Nuro keep recording when my screen locks?
Yes. Recording continues when you lock the phone or switch apps, and the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island show Pause and Stop.
Is there a Nuro widget?
Yes: small and medium Home Screen widgets and Lock Screen widgets. Each one starts a recording with one tap.
What if the recording gets interrupted?
Nuro saves audio to the phone as it goes and recovers an interrupted recording the next time it opens, so a crash or a dead battery does not take the words with it.
